What We're Working on Now
We have finished our third field season of owl surveys and are busy working with the data and continue to work on our vegetation classification map. We are collaborating with the Spatial team on a manuscript that illustrates the value of Lidar for wildlife habitat studies.

Description
The Owl Team will be researching the California Spotted Owl (Strix occidentalis) through the life of the SNAMP project in the northern site and asking: do forest fuel treatments have an effect on spotted owl territory occupancy and reproductive success?

Rocky Gutiérrez is a Professor of Forest Wildlife in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology at the University of Minnesota. His research centers on game bird ecology, endangered species conservation, habitat ecology, and sustainable wildlife management strategies.
