Would like to make this a project at school for our younger children. Is there any special sock size, material, etc we need to ask for in a lonely sock drive, or does anything go? Thanks

Thank you for your help. We prefer long dark cotton socks although we are able to dye lighter colored ones. We prefer not to get short/tennis socks.
