The Tahoe National Forest hosted a field trip to the Last Chance Project on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Foresthill Ranger Station.

The field trip's purpose was to view the tree designation (mark) on the Last Chance Project. This project is a Strategically Placed Area Treatment (SPLAT) being done to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires as per the 2004 Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment.

Effects of this project on wildlife, water, fire and forest health are being studied through the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project (SNAMP) by the University of California Science Team.
