We currently anticipate concluding the project in December 2014 as originally envisioned.
The goal of this meeting is to provide an update on current research in SNAMP Public Participation; AND to inform and seek input from participants on changes in the overall SNAMP workplan schedule, design and on project completion ideas and prioritized deliverables that meet MOUP and stakeholder expectations.

May 17 2012 - Northern Site LiDAR Workshop
The Spatial Team from the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project (SNAMP) would like to announce two upcoming LiDAR workshops. They will be held near our two forest research sites to assist us in spreading out the opportunity to learn more about the work of the University of California Berkeley and Merced Remote Sensing Teams.
We will be sharing our work with LiDAR, the latest in remote sensing/mapping tools. LiDAR is providing a new view of the forest as it allows the quantification of forest structures across the landscape; from fuels, to biomass, canopy cover, downed logs, and the height, diameter and height to live crown of individual trees. This enhanced visualization of the forest is allowing for a better quantification of valuable structures as well as the changes brought about by fuel treatments.
We will provide more information in the future, until then please see our website for more information on the work of the UC Spatial team at: http://snamp.cnr.berkeley.edu/teams/spatial.
Please RSVP to Kim Ingram kcingram@ucdavis.edu

May 1 2012 - Southern Site Fisher Field Trip
The Pacific fisher wildlife research team from the southern site of the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project led a group of participants to their research site. They have been studying the fisher for four years and have two years remaining in their evaluation of this population's response to local fuel treatments being done by the Forest Service. As it will be denning season by May, the research team wanted to show some of the interesting details they have learned about the fisher's denning habits over the last few years.

May 1 & 2 2008 - SNAMP Fire Modeling Workshop, Berkeley
We had a great workshop for SNAMP scientists and interested parties going through a fire modeling tool called ArcFuels. Alan Ager, Western Wildland Environmental Threat Assessment Center, Pacific Northwest Research Station, USDA Forest service. This workshop introduced the ArcFuels VBA macros written for ArcGIS version 9.2 (available from www.fs.fed.us/wwetac/arcfuels). The workshop started with Alan Ager presenting analyses and results from two Oregon study areas in which ArcFuels was used to evaluate the effects of fuel treatment alternatives on potential fire behavior and fire risk. The workshop then went into an interactive mode of teaching/using ArcFuels including running fire behavior model FlamMap, assessing fire behavior with FlamMap, designing thinning and/or burning fuel treatments, evaluating FVS fuel treatment scenario outputs, and integrating other data into FlamMap. The workshop was hosted in the Geospatial Imaging and Informatics Facility.
May 1 2008 - SNAMP FFEH + Spatial + Wildlife integrated team meeting, Berkeley
The FFEH, Spatial and Wildlife teams discussed data needs, data processing, and data sharing in this integrated team meeting. These types of meetings are critical to make sure teams are collaborating and producing products that are relevant to team scientific goals.
Apr 29 2008 - Communication Tools for Adaptive Management Workshop, Auburn
This workshop was one of two designed to:

Mar 27 2008 - Spatial + FFEH Integrated Team Meeting, Berkeley
The FFEH and Spatial teams discussed data needs, data processing, and data sharing in this integrated team meeting. These types of meetings are critical to make sure teams are collaborating and producing products that are relevant to team scientific goals. Some of the main themes revolved around use of Lidar data to derive metrics and products that can be used in fire models. This is key to our plans to scale up from plot measurement to firesheds.

Feb 20 2008 - Triggers and Threshold Workshop
Now that the UC Science Team has begun to implement the SNAMP workplan, an important next step is the exploration of HOW to collaboratively design and implement Adaptive Management practices. Since the T/T Team is critical to this effort, we are inviting you to a one day training to introduce the Structural Facilitation processes we used in the workplan development and to use these processes to plan for the next T/T meeting. It is scheduled for February 20th, from 9 AM to 5 PM at the DANR building in Davis and requires the full day commitment of all participants. Space is limited to 12 attendees, so get your registration in quickly! The attached agenda outlines some of the topics that will be covered as well as the desired outcomes from the day. The overall goals of the day are 1) to raise awareness regarding successful methods and processes that are needed to support Adaptive Management in SNAMP, 2) to practice using the methods to design the next T/T meeting, and 3) get feedback on what elements seem most important to the participants.
